A joint research by Aston University in England and Banaras Hindu University in India has found that bananas are better at curing intestinal ulcers than yoghurt, milk and wheat. When tested on rats, it was found that some chemicals in bananas are involved in preventing intestinal ulcers that may occur in the stomach.
They have also found
that bananas can cure even if there is already a sign of intestinal ulcers. The
inner wall of the stomach is made of thick mucous membranes, which secrete
hydrochloric acid, which is very important for digesting food. Its
responsibility is to break down food and turn it into pulp.
Researchers say that bananas are good for healing ulcers
quickly because the chemicals in bananas stimulate the growth of cells in the
membranes. They have found that ripe or cooked bananas generally do not have
anti-ulcer properties, while unripe bananas, which are picked four to five
weeks before ripening, have a higher anti-ulcer effect.
Scientists say that appropriate research should be carried
out to identify the chemical in bananas that is responsible for the anti-ulcer
properties. Such natural foods and vegetables contain excellent nutrients and
chemicals that can build immunity that is beneficial to the body.
