Nanotechnology - Nanoparticles - Application of Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology

The size of the material influences its characteristics. We know that some other materials like micro size and nano size in nature or synthesis by man-made. Usually, scientists found that materials having a size of about 1/1,000,000,000 meters show special characteristics.

These kinds of nanomaterials play a vital role in all science departments, like physics, chemistry, biology and also engineering technologies. Nowadays nanomaterials are available, and in the future people will definitely use nanomaterials.

Nanochemistry deals with the study of the physical and chemical characteristics of nanomaterials. Nanoscience is the study of materials at the atomic and molecular levels. Nanotechnology is the application of principles of nanoscience to manipulate matter of atomic and molecular scale.

Nanoparticles

“Nano” that word derived from Greek which means a billionth fraction of a unit. Nano - nine zero size smaller particles which means 1/1000, 000,000 or 10-9.  Due to their small dimensions, nanomaterials have extremely large surface area to volume ratio, resulting in more surface-dependent material properties. We can able to find the size of the analysis using instruments like scanning electron microscope, tunnelling electron microscope and atomic force microscope.

Application of Nanotechnology

In chemistry, usually, some reactions need catalysts, the metallic nanoparticles can be used as very active catalysts.

Some other sensor’s sensitivity is accurate by using nanowires. Nanowires enhance the sensitivity of sensors.

Sports equipment and automobiles using nano-coating and nanocomposites are useful in making a variety of products.

Using this nanotechnology the UV-blocking coating on glass bottles is making it possible. It is used to protect from UV rays.

Nanotechnology is used to make water-resistant shirts.

Nanomaterials are widely used in electronics because nanomaterials have minute conductors to produce circuits for microchips.

Nanomaterials have applications in the preparation of cosmetics, deodorants and sunscreen lotions. Sunscreen lotions containing nano TiO2 which provides protection from skin cancer.

Nanoparticle substances are incorporated in fabrics to prevent the growth of bacteria. This is a very big usage for the modern lifestyle.

Nano-robotics is a new emerging technology which involves creating machines and robots. This is used to go to the next level in robotics.
