What is Avalanche?
It is a cumulative ionization process in which a single
particle produces several ions. A large number of charge particles are thus
produced from the initial event.
What is Ayrton – Mather galvanometer?
Ayrton–Mather
galvanometer is a form of moving coil permanent magnet galvanometer, with no
iron within the moving coil.
What is BAUD?
It is a unit of measurement of data processing speed. It
means the speed in bauds is the number of signal elements per second. The
signalling speed is defined as so many bauds per second.
What is a BIMORPH cell?
It is two piezoelectric plates cemented together in such a
way that an applied voltage causes one to expand and the other to contract.
What is BOLOMETER?
It is a very sensitive metallic resistance thermometer, used
to measure feeble radiation.
What is CARBORUNDUM?
It is a semiconductor of carbon and silicon used as a crystal
detector.
What is CARMATRON?
It is a travelling wave tube with a structure similar to a cylindrical
magnetron but with the circuit open and terminated by two coaxial feeders.
What is ICONOSCOPE?
It is a photo emissive camera tube employing high electron velocity; an orthicon is similar to an iconoscope which uses a low-velocity electron scanning
beam.
What is KINESCOPE?
It is a form of cathode ray television reproducing apparatus
in which the amplified received signal impulses vary the strength of an electro-statically focused electron beam which is caused by suitable deflecting coils
to scan a fluorescent screen in synchronism with the scanning beam in the
transmitter, rendering it luminous in proportion to the light falling on to the
transmitting screen.
What is a CCD sensor?
It is a
linear image sensor which is made up of silicon. While light is incident on the
silicon charges accumulate in proportion to incident light flux.
