More than all this,
some of the actions of birds that can travel from continent to continent are
surprising. Those birds
fly very far. Thus, the food available to the birds is essential during their
travels.
But the area where birds mostly fly is the watery sea area so
it is very difficult to get food in that sea area. This type of
transcontinental bird flies by holding a stick on its leg while flying.
After flying for a long distance, it descends due to fatigue
and puts the stick on the sea and then sits on the stick and floats to find the
food it needs. In this way, even the birds think skillfully and meet their food
needs.
The hummingbird,
which weighs only about 3 grams, flies non-stop for 8000 kilometres from North
America to Mexico.
Among the birds, some birds are very clever; the bird called
Hornbill uses a clever way to keep its chicks from being taken away. When this
type of bird lays its eggs, the female bird hides in a wooden nest and closes
the nest's mouth.
There is only a small opening for feeding prey. The male bird
goes out and collects the prey and gives it to the female bird and the chicks
thus the bird fully protects her chicks.
Among the birds that
can migrate from continent to continent, the North American continent bird
occupies a special place. They are more common in the northern part of North
America along the Canadian side of the lake.
It travels continuously for three and a half days without covering a distance of about 3500 km from the South American continent to the South Pole. During this 86-hour flight, about 70 hours will be required to fly at an altitude of more than 7000 meters. At that height, the oxygen level is very low but even a small amount of oxygen can travel a long distance and reach its destination.
