Sleepless thinking |
These new ideas have been further confirmed by studies of the
electrical activity of the brains of twins. When twins sleep, the onset time
they take to fall asleep, the different stages of their sleep, and their
duration, there are many similarities between them.
Sleep is a state of unconsciousness that is different from
the waking state of sensory perception. As a result, the ability to immediately
perceive some external changes is temporarily lost, resulting in surprising
changes in brain activity.
There are two types of sleep.
Rapid eye moment stage
Non-rapid eye moment stage
The first type of sleep accounts for 25 per cent of the total
sleep time. In this state, the eyes are moving slowly here and there with the
eyelids closed, and dreams occur in this state. In this state, the heartbeat,
breathing, and blood pressure increase slightly.
The Non-rapid eye moment stage that follows this decreases
blood pressure, followed by the heartbeat, breathing, and the synchronous
movement of the muscles in the joints also decreases.
The basic reason that induces sleep is still not known exactly. Many factors are needed to prove it scientifically. Researchers say that sleep occurs in the background of a biochemical system. Chemical substances found in various parts of the brain play an important role in sleep by helping to transmit electrical impulses.

Can you go without sleep for a long time?
Generally, it is very difficult to cope with sleep; sleep
comes automatically when the body is tired. Only a very few people have the
habit of sleeping both during the day and at night. According to some studies,
researchers say that taking a short nap during the day keeps the body healthy.
We may think that women are weaker than men and can endure
sleep deprivation because they are physically stronger, but the truth and
research results are different.
When we studied people who need to stay awake, such as border
guards, traffic wardens, drivers, factory workers, and many others, it was
found that women tolerate sleep deprivation much more easily than men.
This is attributed to the higher fat content in women's
bodies. Compared to younger people, people over 40 are generally more likely to
suffer from sleep deprivation.
Researchers say that people in their 20s and 30s can get by without
sleep for a while because they are healthier at a young age, and they can get
by without sleep. Young people can tolerate a few days of sleep deprivation
without any problems.
However, prolonged sleep deprivation usually causes mental
decline. Some people also have the potential to become depressed. Although this
sleep may help compensate for the wear and tear on the body and brain, more
research needs to be done to scientifically prove how it actually benefits
physical health.
