That sensor was connected to a computer. Now, when the signals sent by the
sensors in the plant are received by the computer, we can detect that sound.
We can study the sound made by the plant by recording it on a
computer. If it is left without water, its growth will be affected, and in such
a situation, the plant makes a sound. Dr. Goblin Jones from the Scientific
Agricultural Food Research Institute in Wellesbourne, Britain, created this
intelligent device that runs on a computer.
This device can also
be used for economical irrigation systems controlled by a computer. If water is
irrigated in water scarcity areas with very little water resources, when such
devices are installed, the plant can be watered when it needs water.
Dr. Jones is conducting basic research on the relationship
between plants and water. He says that this will be very helpful for countries
with droughts. By fully understanding the water needs of plants, it is possible
to use less water available in drought areas in a very economical and
efficient way and get good results.
