Hydrogen is a simple element which contains one electron and one proton. Hydrogen is a neutron-less atom.
Ortho- Para hydrogen
The hydrogen spin of nuclei can be in the same direction is called orthohydrogen. The spin of nuclei can be in the opposite direction is called para-hydrogen.
Some important uses of Hydrogen :
(1) Hydrogen is used to synthesise Ammonia. Ammonia plays a vital role in chemical fertilizers. hydrogen is indirectly produced. Fertilizers for agriculture.
(2) Hydrogen acts as the reduction reaction. The margarine is produced by hydrogen. Unsaturated fatty oil can be converted into saturated fat.
(4) Fuel cells for generating electrical energy.
(5) The main use of hydrogen is future fuel. Environment pollution and global warming make the world shift towards alternative fuels. Hydrogen can directly be used as a fuel and can replace existing gasoline like petrol and diesel.
