Astronomers have done so much research. When thinking about astronomy, the first thought that comes to scientists and everyone with a scientific mind is aliens.
It is natural to have
doubts and curiosity about whether humans like us or humans who are different from us live in this universe. How to find them? How to see them? Are
they there? Or not? Interestingly, various questions and discussions
arise in the world of knowledge.
American space researchers embarked on research into whether
humans live on other planets. They chose to send signals from Earth,
thinking that if people on other planets received them, they would communicate with us.
In 1960, a 21-centimetre wavelength was sent from America.
After travelling 100 trillion kilometres, these signals can reach specific
planetary groups after travelling 11 years. If any humans live in these blocks,
they will be able to answer this after these 22 years because these signals
travel from Earth for 11 years and it will take them 11 years to receive them
and send them back.
It is very difficult to predict anything in advance. When
scientists chose the 21-centimeter wavelength, they did it with a purpose. This
is the wavelength of the signals sent by hydrogen atoms. This happens every time
the particles inside the hydrogen atom change this magnetic moment. This event
is repeated once every 11 million years in each atom.
Since hydrogen atoms are everywhere in the universe, this
event is happening somewhere in some place every moment. Therefore, signals
with a wavelength of 21 centimetres are constantly coming from some part of the
universe. The entire universe is full of hydrogen.
Astronomers who have
received signals from hydrogen atoms are monitoring what is happening around
us. Why did scientists think that people on other planets would listen at this
wavelength?
People who have
reached our level or a level of development beyond that will show interest in
the universe. They will receive hydrogen signals with a wavelength of 21
centimetres. So, scientists thought that they must have a receiver connected to
this wavelength.
